I have been pretty creative and adventuresome all my life. I was always inspired by Tom Sawyer and I got into a lot of trouble just like he did. My brothers and I were always out stirring up some mischief and it caught us a bad reputation with neighborhood mothers.
A few years after graduating high school, I embarked on a journey across the United States. I left my home in Richmond without a dime and met two traveler kids who showed me how to hop on freight trains and hitch-hike around the country. I experienced life as a real American hobo. I sang songs and sold my art just to get enough money to eat. The whole experience changed my life forever. I can never go back to living an average life.
I learned a lot out there on the road. I met a lot of people too, each one taught me something different. We collected rocks, feathers, and animal bones. We made jewelry out of them.
I don’t have a home. My things are scattered around, I leave stuff at the homes of various friends and family. I drift about as if I were on a raft floating down a river. I don’t know what’s ahead but I hope there’s wine.
